Date and Time: Sunday November 7, 1-4pm.
Location: The Marguerite Ormston Trailway at the Walter Bean Trailhead at Homer Watson Blvd and Doon South Road, Kitchener.
PDU Value: 1 Leadership PDU
Fees: Free for PMI members and volunteers and their family members
Hike details:
Hike starts and ends at The Marguerite Ormston Trailway at the Walter Bean Trailhead at Homer Watson Blvd and Doon South Road GPS Coords: 43.3899, -80.42089.
At almost 5 Km, this trail is a loop and is conveniently located, right off highway 401. There is lots of parking at the trailhead.
The trail is a moderately trafficked loop that passes The Grand River and is good for all skill levels. Dogs may use the trail but must be kept on a leash. For those that want to run 'alltrails' on their Smartphone, a map of the hike to use with the app is available here: https://www.alltrails.com/explore/trail/canada/ontario/marguerite-ormston-trailway. You should not need to subscribe to the service to use the app with this trail.
There will be several breaks for brief talks on applying project management to hiking as a way of introducing project management professionals to hiking. These will include project initiation and what are the benefits of hiking; planning; risk management; and the tools and techniques available for planning and undertaking a hike.
We will make an alternative arrangement 2-3 days in advance and update participants if the weather doesn’t cooperate.
Due to the COVID outdoor gathering restriction, please specify how many people, including yourself, you are bringing in during your registration.
