With Humber’s strategic move from traditional waterfall project management toward more adaptive, customized Ways of Working (WoW), this research examines how the transition is unfolding within Humber’s PMO. The study explores the challenges faced, the conditions enabling successful change, and the positive contributions of the PMO as Humber’s project delivery approaches evolve.
Presenter: Shiva Foroutan
Speaker Biography:
Shiva is a third-year PhD Candidate in Management at the Gordon S. Lang School of Business and Economics, University of Guelph. She earned her Master’s in Project Management from the University of Tehran, and has professional experience as a project planning and controls specialist in both the IT industry and consulting. Currently, Shiva is a sessional lecturer for the Project Management course at the University of Guelph and is preparing for her PMP exam. Her research interests include project change management, project governance, sustainability in projects, and PMO evaluation.
Shiva started her research at Humber Polytechnic last September, leading a PMO evaluation focused on their transition to agile-based, tailored ways of working, and exploring the conditions necessary for PMO success in facilitating organizational change. This work is part of her PhD thesis, which she expects to defend in the next six months.
